NEWS: Dodo Releases Fresh Track Trip ft. CO LEE
BBC Music Introducing-approved indie/electronic artist-producer Dodo unveiled his new track “Trip”. The London-based Hungarian music maverick is set for the international stage with his new single, which injects some fresh air into hip hop.
“Trip” combines hip hop storytelling with analogue sounds, electric guitar and breakbeats to create an atmospheric, insistent banger. Dodo teamed up with Budapest-based rapper CO LEE to create a track with a trippy backing, which appeals to rap as well as to indie fans, merging the genres to create something remarkable.
Dodo says, “I’m really excited about this track. I’m really pushing the boundaries with it. I wanted to create something unique and fresh for the hip hop community and something which has some indie nuances as well. Basically this song is the best representation of my musical taste.”
CO LEE says, “The line ‘My brother hit me up and told me rap some on this beat’ really gives it away. I am living in the eternal hug of the moment passed, and the one that's yet to come. Experimenting with new styles and instrumentals is my fetish.”
The theme of the song is ‘tripping’, exploring the world and realising that everything is possible, no matter what. Tripping can be a pleasant experience, or an exploration of self and consciousness. Trips are crucial for someone to get out of their comfort zone in order to evolve and grow.
The song was co-produced, mixed and mastered by István Beke.
Dodo is the brainchild of Dominik Lacziko Succhiatti, a 21-year-old with an immense passion for music.
Dodo was turned on by the arts when traveling around Europe as a kid with his mum and witnessing Renaissance masterpieces like Da Vinci’s Last Supper and Michelangelo’s David.
Equally fascinated by the beauty of sounds he dreamed of playing in big bands, in big arenas. He first picked up the guitar at the age of 12 and wrote his first song at 13. By the age of 14 he had played his first gig with his band at a school festival. Two years later he formed his second band, Wrepperz, with some school friends and since then he hasn’t stopped.
Band manager and guitar-player, Dodo played at festivals across Hungary with the group, the experience confirming in him that music would be his future life and career. At 19 he moved to London to study Music Marketing and he that’s when he launched his solo project.
