After 16 months of lockdown darkness, we are able to announce our first shows as we emerge from the shadows to a new beginning. With so much uncertainty surrounding the government restrictions, we were not able to press forward with our schedule and share with you all our plans – until now.
For our opening weekend, FOLD presents 3 days and nights of events celebrating the music and values that inspire us. On Friday 23rd July, we will throw open our doors for an extended 18 hours Reopening session. Saturday night welcomes back close family Rupture across three rooms. Then after a short intermission, we move into the final stretch: our core UNFOLD daytime event across 12 hours from 10am until 10pm.
For the opening party, we have invited our friends and residents to launch the new chapter of our togetherness. Joining us for this celebration will be 7XINS (LIVE), Anabel Arroyo, Alba Heidari, Cleric, Dax J, Gareth Wild, James Newmarch, Lockhart and a special guest who is yet to be announced.
The lineups for Rupture have been revealed earlier this week with the likes of DJ Bryan Gee, Equinox, Jerome Hill and DJ Perception taking to the decks. The Sunday UNFOLD lineup will be revealed in the coming week.
A limited number of 50 tickets will be available in advance via the FOLD website for the reopening party. The remaining allocation will be available on the door.
But for those unable to attend we don't want them to miss out. It has been over a year since FOLD shut the doors to the place our community calls home. During this time we have continuously looked for ways to maintain a connection through streams, talks, and support. But we realised nothing would fill the void until we could create a space for people to connect in the way they do on the dance floor. Our solution - a digital version of FOLD. This virtual recreation of FOLD will allow our people a vital link, a place where they can wander for hours, restore all their beautiful memories, and dive back into these experiences. With no photos allowed in the club it gives those who haven't reached a glimpse inside our corner of East London.
We worked for several months with the very talented Liam Noonan to digitally recreate every corner of the legendary FOLD dance floor and building. Taking inspiration from gaming, which has been one of the most effective forms of escapism for people during this time of isolation, we wanted to evoke the same feeling of immersion. This work of art is a virtual gallery, a space where you get to explore the essence of a beloved club when unable to make it to the physical version.
With a forthcoming roll out of Virtual Exhibitions and other programming that shines light on our community of talented creators. FOLD.Digital will act as a community hub that we can immerse ourselves in as we begin to emerge from our enforced hibernation.
