NEWS: Maxïmo Park at #1 in Official Albums Chart Midweek | New Out-Store Performances Confirmed
Maxïmo Park’s anticipated new album “Nature Always Wins” is out now and available to stream / buy HERE. It leads the way at #1 in the official albums chart midweek update.
As the band’s first new album together in almost 4 years, “Nature Always Wins” has spawned much excitement from fans, and scored them two BBC 6 Music A-listed singles (Baby, Sleep and All Of Me), as well as their Album Of The Day slot last Friday. However, over the weekend, some notable fans of the band have jumped to assist Maxïmo Park in what they feel could be their first official UK #1 album.
In a Twitter post on Sunday night, ahead of Maxïmo Park’s Twitter Listening Party with Tim Burgess, Mogwai frontman Stuart Braithwaite – current owner of the UK’s #1 album with “As The Love Continues” – was the first to tweet and rally people around the hashtag #MaximoPark4Number1. A week after Mogwai’s historic chart feat it marks something of a revolution in the way indie artists are embracing the All-In-This-Together spirit, as they battle the twin forces of the pandemic and Brexit. With the aim of bringing the best of the indie music scene to wider audiences, showcasing culturally relevant records that, in this instance, play on themes spanning social injustice to parenthood, it is proving to be something that the public are responding to in greater numbers than ever before.
BBC Radio 1’s Greg James also backed Maxïmo Park in a particularly impassioned Instagram post, paying tribute to a band that he played so often at the start of his burgeoning career, while on student radio. He said “Songs from A Certain Trigger and Our Earthly Pleasures were on repeat during my student radio days. This new album has come along at a time when we’re all feeling totally all over the place. I still have moments of complete existential meltdown (I had one last Friday actually). I’ve listened to the album constantly over this sunny weekend, and I’ve felt comforted and inspired all over again. I love them more than ever.”
Anyone wanting to make sure Maxïmo Park have as big an impact as possible should grab a copy of the album before midnight on Thursday March 4th HERE.
Maxïmo Park are lining up more out-store shows in Kingston and Leeds, with Banquet Records and Crash Records respectively, at which they will play songs from new album “Nature Always Wins” as well as a front-to-back performance of “Our Earthly Pleasures” in full, as a thank you to fans. Tickets will be available HERE from 11am GMT on Tuesday March 2nd.
